The Global Competence Aptitude Assessment (GCAA)® has been developed by Global Leadership Excellence, LLC and it is based on rigorous research. The GCAA® is the only instrument that measures all the components of global competence, as reported in refereed journals worldwide.

To thoroughly assess both the Internal Readiness and External Readiness categories, and all the components of each, the GCAA® is comprised of four distinct sections, each with a different question style. There is overlap throughout the GCAA® as each of the eight components of Global Competence is evaluated from a variety of angles, using different styles of questions, and varying degrees of difficulty. The result is a more complete measure of global competence. Additionally, the questions are based on regions around the world, with particular emphasis placed on those countries that make significant contributions to the world's population and economy.

The GCAA® is the product of ten years of extensive original research on the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to become Globally Competent. The research population included Fortune 500 company human resource managers, senior international education administrators from numerous countries, national and international government officials and intercultural consultants on several continents.

Global Leadership Excellence, LLC conducted statistically analyzed research, polling, and pilot studies of internationally renowned experts in aspects related to Global Competence, as well as global executives, international educators, and students. The research findings have been published in the Journal of Studies in International Education and in International Educator, and cited in leading journals worldwide.

The GCAA® has been reviewed and recommended by leaders of business and industry worldwide, the National Foreign Trade Council, representatives from the United Nations, Deans and other senior administrators of universities on four continents, human resource officials, and entrepreneurs. It was also piloted by members of a leadership program for global entrepreneurs, hailing from over 40 countries spanning six continents.
